During my morning walks I often stop to watch the birds in the surf on the beach. So, I recently got a pair of binoculars and have begun looking at birds in my neighborhood. I am aware that a lot of other people like birding and that some are very passionate about birding. What can I do to learn and see more?

Try Audubon
I recommend finding a local chapter of the Audubon. There are several in the L.A and Orange county regions. My experience with birders is that they really like sharing their passion with others and would be glad to have you in their group.
