Protected areas include wildlife refuges, reserves, marine protected areas and other locations that work to preserve habitat and organisms within a set boundary. Usually, human activities in these areas are restricted, resulting in wonderful opportunites to observe the natural behavior of animals as well as the possibility of seeing a species that you haven't seen before. Also, many of these sites need volunteers, even if their website doesn't say so, ask who ever is in charge if they could use some help.
